White, red and green might be the traditional colors of the holiday season, but Sony’s thinking pink should get equal billing.
The entertainment giant with a questionable taste in colors is planning to launch a pink PlayStation 2 this fall and it also seems the much heralded pink PSP will also make its debut in October for European buyers.
Pictures of the PS2 model show a shockingly nauseating console that’s decked out in what can only be described as a painfully bright shade of pink. Set to make its first appearance at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany Aug. 23-27, the console will sell for a reported €159.99 or £129.99 in UK in a bundle with SingStar Pop.
The price doesn’t sound that bad, but eww! Could they have made it any more of an eyesore? I don’t even think my frilly dress-loving daughter would want to play on that. I'm not sure Sony will be able to outsell the Xbox 360 with this model.
On the upside, Sony’s also planning an overall price drop for the current-gen console in Europe. The new prices for the PS2 will fall in under 95 pounds.
