If popularity is measured by the number of friends someone, or something has, than World of Warcraft is certainly a member of the A crowd.
The game has 29,693 friends (at the time of this writing) on its own personal MySpace page. The page itself is awesome and is probably one of the best fan-type sites I’ve seen for any game. Expect, this one was created by Blizzard itself. It's touted on the game's main community page along with other news items.
Features include basic WoW information, a link to the 10-day free trial, several trailers for the game, including one for the Burning Crusade expansion, a personality test, posting forums, a screenshot contest, skins for users’ own MySpace pages and more. All it all, it's a pretty useful side site for the game.
The screenshot contest is one of the coolest features. It ends Aug. 20 and results in the lucky winner taking home a Blizzard edition iPod Nano. Not bad for taking a few pics while playing a game.
The page is pretty darn cool and no doubt is a great way for players to engage themselves in a little WoW action when they need to be away from their gaming rigs.
World of Warcraft is the most popular MMORPG going. It has more than 6 million subscribers worldwide and even beats Jesus and George Bush on Google searches. With added touches like the MySpace place, it’s little wonder this MMORPG shows no signs of slowing down.
Nods to Wonderland.
