In a gaming world that’s dominated by the massive numbers realized by Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, it’s nice to see others celebrating more modest victories.
CCP has announced that its EVE Online Tranquility server has broken a personal record for the number of users online at a single time. That number is 30,538.
It might seem like peanuts compared to WoW’s subscriber base of nearly 7 million and lord knows how many online at any given time, but for EVE it’s big news. And with it coming on the heels of some in-game scamming disasters, it’s even better for the Reykjavik-based company.
"It is with great honor that I see the 30k mark being broken," said EVE player RipLee. "CCP has done an awesome achievement in such a feat. Kudos to CCP."
EVE’s a space game that has a loyal fan base that’s growing slowly, but steadily. Those who get hooked seem to stay that way. Check it out by clicking here.
