Valve’s continuing its romance with episodic content with Half-Life 2: Episode Two being the latest title under development. Two new game-play movies released today and a trailer for the title is available on the Steam site.
The movies are the first of five expected before the episode goes live sometime in the first quarter of 2007. The movies not only reveal some of the new locations that will be in Episode Two, they also give players an idea of the technical updates that have been made to the Source Engine. These include an improved particle system and soft shadowing.
Half-Life 2: Episode 2 will release for the PC, the 360 and the PS3 along with Team Fortress 2 and Portal. Team Fortress also has a new trailer out. The game’s release is later than initially expected and the title will cost more, too.

Personally, I’m not entirely sure if I’m in love with the whole episodic idea or not. It’s a really neat concept on the surface, but I hate waiting and with delays like what’s happened with this title, I’d pull my hair out waiting to play/see more of the story.
Sadly, patience isn’t one of my virtues.
