Madden NFL 07
Electronic Arts shot and it scored.

Madden NFL 07 has sold more than 2 million copies since its release on Aug. 22. This marks the best performance in the game’s impressive 17-year franchise history. The unit sales are a full 12 percent higher than last year’s Madden title. In real dollars, the sales translate to about $100 million.

The reason for the success?

According to EA’s VP of marketing, Todd Sitrin, it’s all in the game. “We put a ton of innovation into Madden NFL 07 from new game modes and controls to NFL Superstar Hall of Fame."

Madden’s release comes right as the NFL season is about to kick off in full force, giving gamers a chance to watch the real stuff and then hit the consoles.

Madden’s available for every console imaginable, PCs and there's even a little Xbox 360 action going on. The PlayStation 3 version of the game is lined up with EB offering a Nov. 7 shipping date on the title. EB has the Wii version dated at Nov. 14 with a $49.99 price, which is cheaper than the PS3 title.

For existing platforms, the price for Madden varies depending on console, but it looks like even next-gen prices aren’t running gamers off as the Xbox Live site is more than hopping with Madden antics.
