Right on the heels of launching its European site for the PlayStation 3, Sony’s announced a delay in delivering the console to that region – a big one.
The PS3 will now launch in March 2007 in Europe, Russia, the Middle East and Africa, Sony said in a media release. The North American and Japanese launch dates remain Nov. 17 and Nov. 11, respectively.
Sony’s blaming the hold up on a delay in mass production of the blue laser diode, which shouldn’t come as a big surprise to many.
Sony has spent so much time talking the console up, it seems to have forgotten to build it.
Despite the delay, however, it is still boasting it will ship 6 million units by the end of 2007. Seems the hubris will never end.
