Assassin's creed
From the surprising favorites on Xbox Live to word that Microsoft was releasing its beta of XNA, there was no shortage of exciting news on the video game front this week.

Let’s take a look at some of the stories that made waves this week:

Nintendo Wireless Tops 2 Million
Nintendo’s Wi-Fi Connection has broken the 2-million mark. That number puts the service at more users than the combined population of 15 states within the U.S. The service has also recorded more than 70 individual users since its launch nine months ago.

Mac Users Get Sims 2
Mac players finally have a chance to check out The Sims 2 Open for Business. The game hit retail stores this week at a price of $34.99. It can be found online at Aspyr Media.

Zombie Invasion
Capcom announced that its Dead Rising title is the fastest-selling next-gen game in North America to date. More than 500,000 units shipped within the first two weeks of its Aug. 8 North American launch.

The creepy game with some bloody fun zombie slaying action heads to Europe Sept. 8 and Japan on Sept. 28.

PS3, Xbox 360 Get Burnout 5
EA announced the development of a next-gen version of its Burnout franchise. Burnout 5 is under development right now and will have players wreaking all sorts of havoc in Paradise City.

No hard release date has been given, but EA’s promising a 2007 window for the title.

EVE Online Heist Breaks Records
Anyone who plays MMORPGs knows building wealth takes time, patience and persistence. Having that wealth taken away hurts.

EVE Online players recently found out (again) what kind of havoc a scammer can wreak when a player named Cally took off with all the money deposited in the Eve Intergalactic Bank. Running off with what amounts 790 billion Isk, Cally’s heist is being considered in some circles the biggest scam in MMORPG history, beating even the GHSC infiltration incident.

4 Million PS3’s By Year’s End
Responding to reports that Sony’s PlayStation 3 might fall short on release numbers, Sony is emphatically saying that’s not so. The company is vowing to have 2 million consoles available at release and another 2 million by year’s end.

With a late start in manufacturing, only time will tell if Sony can pull this off.

Ubisoft Announces Assassin’s Creed For 360
The PlayStation 3 won’t be the only next-gen to get some Assassin’s Creed action. Ubiosoft announced the Xbox 360 would also get the game, and so would the PC. The 360 and PS3 versions will release together.

Don’t expect the title before next year, however.
