While Sony has put its cards on the table in regard to the PlayStation 3, Nintendo has yet to do the same in regard to Wii. And, now the world is left wondering when the console will release and how much it will really cost.
Speculators are now hoping that the waters will clear in regard to Wii during two upcoming events in mid-September. The first one is a North American event Nintendo is hosting on Sept. 14. The second is a trade-only show in Europe, set for Sept. 15.
The theory is that details will be revealed at these events, and it seems as if Nintendo officials have told GamesIndustry.biz at least the Euro information will come out at the Sept. 15 show.
Some are saying it’s imperative for Nintendo to play its cards face up at this point to get the PR machine rolling. But, it seems to me, the little leaks here and there about better pricing of both the console and the games are working rather well for Nintendo, and they’re keeping people guessing.
Still, it will be nice to finally have the skinny. Here’s hoping it comes at these events or at least sometime soon. I need to set my Christmas budget!
