Ben Heckendorn is a legend in video game console mods and his latest creation should just add to that status.
Heckendorn has created an Xbox 360 laptop mod that’s simply incredible. He was responsible for other take-along mods, such as the nPod and the PPS2, but this might be the best one yet.
The Xbox 360p has all the bells and whistles of its next-gen counterpart with a huge twist. It’s good to go.
To make the 360p fully functional, Heckendorn spent about three months fiddling with the design. The end result is a custom created aluminum laptop with a keyboard, a Westinghouse LCD and total portability, even if it’s a little heavy at 14 pounds. Heck, the thing’s even got WiFi, USB ports and the Xbox green, glowing ring. Just goes to show what time, smarts and determination can pull off.
The pictures over on Heckendorn’s site and the back story behind the creation are fantastic. It leaves me seriously wishing Microsoft would take a cue from Ben and roll this thing out for general consumption.
Ben's written: "I guess I would say I don't "mod" systems so much as completely rebuild them. This is a perfect example as everything in the Xbox 360 has been taken apart and reassembled, with LCD screen, in laptop form inside a custom case."
Mod or rebuild, it's brilliant!
Xbox 360 gaming action to go … what a concept! No, wait, I’d never get any work done.
