Xbox 360, PC Holiday Lineup Listed - 29.9.06

XBox 360 Power ButtonsMicrosoft unveiled its next-gen and Windows holiday lineup during X06, and it’s looking almost hot enough to melt snow. Most of the announcements on both fronts aren’t big shockers. But, all in all, it looks like Microsoft is positioning itself well to compete, especially when the next-gen show down really starts.

Here’s a look at the anticipated 360 holiday titles:
  • Gears of War. This game was named the Best Console Game at the 2006 E3. It’s a third-person tactical horror, action title that offers multiple modes and a customizable Xbox Live multiplayer experience.
  • Viva Pinata. This title’s based on the new kid’s show and features “an evolving paradise” that’s meant for players of all ages.
  • Call of Duty 3. This is a highly anticipated title that puts players on the front lines. The multiplayer version allows for up to 24 players to team up.
  • Cars. Based on Disney, Pixar’s movie of the same title, this game will allow players to check out more than 10 playable characters.
  • Dead or Alive: Xtreme 2. Gamers can race high-performance watercraft, take part in beach volleyball and more while enjoying Zack’s Island.
  • FIFA 2007. This title offers “true-to-life movement” and what’s being billed as “unprecedented” responsiveness.
  • NBA 2K7. This basketball title offers “breathtaking graphics” and “tight controls.”
  • NBA LIVE 07. The latest title in the series includes new moves, updated visuals and more player control.
  • NHL™ 07. Hockey goes next-gen with this title that includes the ability for players to take control of every movement on the ice without having to take their hands off the analog sticks.
  • Need for Speed Carbon. This street racing title will have gamers driving through dangerous canyon roads.
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 6. This title offers more than 150 individual moves.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog.
  • SUPERMAN RETURNS. This title is based on 60 years of DC and movie lore. It enables gamers to try and master Superman’s multiple powers in a battle to save Metropolis.
  • Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 07. It features 12 courses, new UCAP technology and more.
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas.
  • Tony Hawk's Project 8. The title has been reworked for the 360.

Microsoft also unveiled its holiday titles for Windows, too. They include:
  • Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs
  • Flight Simulator X
  • Neverwinter Nights 2
  • Zoo Tycoon 2: Marine Mania
