Sony Serious About PS3 Downloads - 29.10.06

PS3The 100,000 Japanese consumers lucky enough to get their hands on a PlayStation 3 will be treated to some decent downloads and a promise for great things to come by year’s end.

It's being reported that planned for the PlayStation Store at launch, or shortly after it, are such titles as:

  • Blast Factor
  • flow
  • Kazuo
  • Puzzle
  • Mainichi Issho

These titles will have free demos available, plus full versions of the games.

Kazuo is one of the big draws here, even if it seems a little hokey to blasting type gamers. This puzzle game will include 1,000 extra problems and much better graphics for PS3 users.

Old PS1 games are also being planned for the store. Reports say that at first they’ll only work on the PSP, but when emulators become available, it’s being reported the single download will work on both. Titles planned for the PSP/PS3 team up include:

  • Resident Evil Director's Cut
  • Konami Antiques MSX Collection Vol.1
  • Konami Antiques MSX Collection Vol.2
  • Bishi Bashi Special
  • Arc the Lad
  • Jumping Flash
  • Minna no Golf 2
  • Silent Bomber
  • Tekken 2
  • Mister Driller

It sounds like the plan is to add about 10 PS1 titles a month to the store with games costing about $15. Not a bad line up and promise of things to come.
