In most circles, Oct. 13 would be a little early to be thinking about Christmas. This is not the case if you intend to get your kids (or yourself) a little next-gen action.Wii was at the top of my list for my 7-year-old. And, well, for myself, too. I figured my husband and I could check out Resident Evil next year while she could enjoy the nifty controller and more age-appropriate titles.
This doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. If the EB Games pre-order day is any indication, my holiday list needs to drastically change, or eBay needs to be my store of choice.
The nice guy who works at my local EB Games told me they sold out of their allocation of Wiis within 10 minutes. When he arrived this morning to unlock the doors, there were people lined up with sleeping bags who had hung around all night to make sure they would have Wiis on launch day. It seems the news is the same in other parts of the U.S., too.
He also said the pre-orders for the entire Tampa market had gone in a flash, as predicted on the EB Games’ Web site. “Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to reach our limit very quickly, most likely in minutes.”
On the up side, the EB online pre-order program has yet to launch, so there’s still a glimmer of hope. Not a very bright one, but a glimmer nonetheless.
Consequently, the nice guy at EB Games also told me the PS3 pre-orders sold out in a blink of an eye, too.
