Emergence Day has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean Gears of War mania has slowed down. Gears of War has sold more than a million copies since its debut earlier this month and boasts the No. 1 spot on Xbox Live. And, if that weren’t enough, the hard-hitting video game is even making waves in the music world.
“Mad World,” the song from the Gears of War commercial, was listed in the No. 1 spot on iTunes over the weekend, per GearHeadsOfWar.com. It had slipped to the No. 12 spot by Monday, but still, that’s pretty impressive.
The song’s by Michael Andrews, performed by Gary Jules. It’s originally from the “Donnie Darko” movie soundtrack, but I’m doubting anyone will remember that after the commercial.
Gears of War music in general is making a big splash. The Megadeath Gears of War song is even available for free download.
Microsoft might not have been able to pull off a Halo 3 debut in time for the next-gen war to kick off, but Gears of War seems to be doing the trick turning gamers’ attention in the direction of the Xbox 360.
