There’s still two days to go until the official release of the PlayStation 3 in the U.S. and gamers are already setting their sights on their places in line.Reports are coming out of Miami and elsewhere that PS3 wannabe owners have begun to line up outside of stores such as Circuit City, Best Buy and EB Games.
Gamers are telling media types they wouldn’t miss the chance to be the first in line for the release of Sony’s next big thing.
The whole camp out for a game thing is a phenomena I just don’t understand. With only an estimated 400,000 consoles for the entire country, it seems like many of the campers are likely to go home empty handed, tired and dejected.
Would I stand in line for days to get my hands on a game? No way.
Sure, I’ll take days off work to be the first to play an expansion for EverQuest. I’ll even upgrade my computer each year to make it better and faster just for the purpose of gaming. But, stand in line, for days on end, no thanks.
For those that do, however, I wish them the best in their quest to get their hands on a PS3. Who knows, maybe they’ll land themselves some great memories even if many of them won’t get a shiny new console to take home right away.
