As Nintendo spread the good news that its Wii console would meet or beat shipment expectations, rumors are circulating that Sony won’t even come close to expectations.Rather than an anticipated 2 million consoles by year’s end, it’s now being forecast that Sony will only pull off between 500,000 to 800,000 units.
Those figures come from Electronic Arts’ Larry Probst, which also let spill the 200,000 launch number figure.
Whether Probst is hitting the nail on the head or not remains to be seen, but he’s likely a more reliable source than Sony officials themselves who tend to talk big and deliver little.
