I can’t imagine it being anything other than a joke on the part of bidders, but there’s an auction out on eBay that ended with a winning bid of $44,100 for a PlayStation 3.
That tops any story about Xbox 360 sales on eBay last year, hands down. Compared to this PS3, the $10,000 360 seems like a real bargain.
Two people in this particular auction bid in the $44,000 range with the winning bidder upping the second comer by $100.
Prior to the outrageous bids, however, the figures were still pretty darn high with the last one coming in at $4,700.
The bid history shows the frenzy that’s built up over the PS3 in the last few days. The original bid was a modest (yes, I’m using that word loosely) $1,350 and the action quickly heated up from there.
Whether the owner gets the $44,100 or has to settle for the $4,700, that’s still a darn good profit.
In the meantime, PS3s have dropped in price on eBay already with most now falling in the $1,000 to $2,000 range, expect this one that hit the $7,000s. Any way you slice it, however, those who managed to get their hands on PS3s to sell, are racking up some serious profits.
