With 200 or so titles that don’t work when they were supposed to, an ever-decreasing launch number amount and lousy software sales in Japan, the release of the PlayStation 3 is going about as smoothly as the Xbox 360’s did last year. But, don’t fret! If you’re one of the lucky gamers who manages to nab a PS3 before they go on eBay for outrageous amounts, you’ll find Sony is rushing into to save the day. Or, more aptly, it’s backwards incompatible machine.
Reports are out saying that Sony is working hard on downloadable upgrades that will fix the playability problems with the old PS and PS2 titles.
Sony’s American boss, Kaz Hirai, has been quoted as saying they are shooting for “perfect compatibility. We are trying to get there as quickly as possible.”
Shouldn’t they have shot for “perfect compatibility” before releasing the machine in the first place?
