PS3, Wii Countdown Has Begun - 11.11.06

The clocks are ticking the final countdown for Sony and Nintendo to step forward in the next-gen video game battle. No longer will Microsoft and its Xbox 360 standalone.

On Nov. 17, Sony’s PlayStation 3 will entry the fray complete in its Blu-ray glory. The uber gaming machine will set back gamers a pretty penny, but those who have checked it out closely seem to think it’s worth the cash.

Just two days later, Nintendo’s family friendly, wallet friendly Wii will enter the scene. A more affordable machine with some nifty features, Wii is favored by some to win the race because of its ability to reach buyers the other two machines cannot.

So, who will win the next-gen war?

Honestly, the real answer to that is you. Thanks to the “battle,” gamers have lots of choices, tons of titles and countless hours of racing, boxing, shooting, RPGing fun headed their way. It doesn’t get better than that!

And, when it comes to who will win on the per-unit front, honestly, beyond stockholders in the three companies, who really cares?

The idea behind all three video game consoles is having fun. Whether you choose an Xbox 360, a Wii or a PS3 as your poison, the real heart of the issue is kicking back, relaxing and playing. It doesn’t really matter who “wins” or “loses.” All that matters is how you play the game.
