Those crazy folks behind SmashOurStuff.com are at it again. This time they have the next-gen consoles in their sights.
To prep for the impending Nov. 17 U.S. launch of the PlayStation 3 and the Nov. 19 Wii release, they’ve created two separate sites and fundraising drives.
The plan?
They intend to have readers pay for both a Wii and a PS3 for them to smash moments after purchase. The pictures and perhaps video will be on the Internet for all to see, complete, they hope, with fanboy reactions.
So far, SmashMyPS3 has earned enough to buy one console and fundraising is going on for a second. The Wii site has enough money raised for a single purchase.
According to the Wii site, “We will be one of the first people to get our hands on the Nintendo Wii. After we do, we will destroy it in front of all the Nintendo fanboys waiting in line to get theirs, on the launch day. This is only a social experiment, for the entertainment of the donors, and visitors of this site.”
The same promise goes for the PS3 and in making sure to be equal opportunity, they’ve already done it for the Xbox 360.
With shortages expected for both consoles, the amount of hate mail they get should be legendary if they pull off the destruction.
