Got cash? You’ll need lots of it to get your hands on a PlayStation 3 if you weren’t lucky enough to do so this morning for the ticket prices.
The sales on eBay are making those $499 and $599 prices seem mild – really mild.
The online auction site that saw an Xbox 360 go for $10,000 last holiday season is now loaded with active actions in relation to the PS3. Presale coupons and actual consoles are going for thousands of dollars. The average running price is around $2,000 but that seems to quickly shoot up the closer to end of auction the listings get.
The presale I snapped a screenshot of was going for more than $5,000 minutes before the end of the auction and bids were still coming in.
There was another one up to $9,100 with more than an hour to go in the bidding. By the time I finished writing this piece, it had gone up to $10,100.
All told there are pages and pages of PS3 stuff for sale on eBay including a web domain name called BuyTheNewPS3.com. The “Buy it now” price for that is $1,000.
I can’t imagine paying thousands of dollars for a gaming console, but to each his or her own.
