Next-gen wars, bah! Nintendo’s DS seems to be one of the hottest gaming consoles on the market. Granted, this thing is tiny and it’s portable, but it’s popular.So popular, in fact, Nintendo has confirmed an increase in production from 2.2 million units a month to 2.5 million. That’s kind of amazing when you think about it. Two and a half million a month, versus the Xbox 360’s 9 million sold to date and the Wii’s several million.
Nintendo really struck gold with its DS and it shows. The thing play is fun, it is appropriate for gamers of all ages and the graphics aren’t completely horrible. Add to this the fact it is down right affordable, and it’s easy to see why this particular console has taken off and continues to do so.
We picked up one for our daughter a while ago, and as a gaming parent, I have to say I’m very impressed. The titles for kids are great, and the games are engaging enough, they’re fun for an adult to play.
