If Enterbrain’s estimates are correct, Sony’s still having some major issues getting its PlayStation 3 off the ground. The research group is saying the company has shipped a grand total of 169,082 consoles to Japan. And, the numbers are in that Sony sold less than 90,000 units during its first two days in its motherland.
Figures for North America were not included, but overall the shortage situation isn’t showing any signs of slowing down in the near future.
According to an article in Virgin.net, a Sony rep wouldn’t comment on Enterbrain’s figures, but did say, “We will keep on shipping more units.”
If the situation doesn’t improve soon, I’m wondering if they’ll actually be able to pull off the March launch in Europe with an appreciable number of consoles, or will that fall short of the mark, too?
