Gamers dying to play god in Will Wright’s new world will have to wait a bit longer to create their own universe from the “Spore” up.Wright, that mastermind of gaming, announced on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” the title won’t make its debut until the last half of 2007. He didn’t indicate which month either, so it could be a summer release or even a holiday chart topper.
No matter when Spore arrives, however, it’s likely to be an instant hit like no other. The game’s creator is the man behind the Sim’s and the hype surrounding this latest title has been phenomenal.
In Spore, gamers will create their own worlds from the primordial ooze on up to space stations and beyond. Early screenshots and trailers for the game make it look like a whole lot of fun for those who are looking for a break from the ordinary.
The last half of next year is a long time to wait, but if Wright is true to form, it will be worth it for fans.
