Long lines were reported in Japan as the Wii console made its way there with a reported 400,000 consoles set for the launch.Despite the numbers, stores there were reporting low allotments, but all told, the launch numbers are much bigger than Sony’s PS3 debut, which occurred only a few short weeks ago.
With the Wii launch, it looks like stores became a lot more organized with handling the lines, too. In fact, one store had wannabe buyers make there way to the parking garage to wait until sales time, Kotaku reported.
The Japanese launch will be followed shortly by the Dec. 8 release in Europe. And, as the launches go off without any major hitches, North American gamers can expect to see more consoles heading this way soon.
All in all, it looks like it’s turning out to be a good season for Wii.
