Nintendo’s intending to deliver on its online play promises sometime in the second quarter of 2007.That word comes from SpikeTV’s “Game Head” show straight from Reggie Fils-Aime’s mouth. The Nintendo of America leader also made mention of more Wii channels in the pipeline, per Palgn.
Fils-Aime has been quoted as saying “The multiplayer is coming. During the Japanese launch, there is Pokémon Battle Revolution, and that's really the first one. There will be titles that we'll be announcing in first quarter 2007, that'll be multiplayer-enabled. So during second quarter 2007, people will be able to have a multiplayer experience on Wii."
Considering the success of online play for the likes of Microsoft, I would have guessed this would be happening sooner for the Wii. Despite this, I’d rather see them take their time and do it right, so it sounds like good news all around.
