As promised on the Spore Web site, there’s lots to report about Will Wright’s latest venture during this week of the Leipzig Games Convention. The game that still has no release date does have a lot of media attention and even some new screenshots and a trailer to boot.
Spore, which first made a splash during the 2005 E3, is still under development by EA and the world famous Wright. As the creator of The Sims, Wright’s one of those guys who when he speaks, the entire gaming industry listens.
The screenshots and trailer released for the game are making it look more and more intriguing, but as it is with the Wii, I have to admit, I’ll be happier when there’s some firm word on a release date.
The title will have gamers building their own universe from the ooze up, starting with a single spore. The idea is to eventually build an entire world and deal with such issues as space travel and beyond.
With Wright behind the wheel, there’s little doubt Spore deserves the attention it’s drawn. But it will be nice to play this title rather than talk about it!
