Supreme Commander Officially Announced

THQ and Gas Powered Games have officially announced Supreme Commander, the new RTS franchise from Chris Taylor and the “spiritual successor” to the classic Total Annihilation.

Chris Taylor has said he wants to revolutionize the RTS genre with the game and laid out his aims in the announcement:

“Our goal with this franchise is to take the RTS experience into the future,[...]
Supreme Commander will deliver an exciting, accessible gaming experience on a huge scope and scale that will allow players to wield unprecedented control over the entire theater of war.”

A teaser website has also been launched that invites visitors to sign up for more information through a newsletter or download a desktop wallpaper.

The game’s existence was initially revealed by PC Gamer magazine last week when it emerged the game had been in development for the past year, and is expected to be released on the PC next year.

More official details about the game are expected this summer.
