As Sony flounders with its production and public relations nightmares, excitement is starting to generate about the impending release of the Xbox 360 HD-DVD add on.
Rumors are starting to surface that indicate the player will sell for GBP 199 (293 Euro), and will come with two movies to boot when it releases around the holidays. There’s also talk that Microsoft will sell a package with the premium console and the movie player for less than GBP 400 (589 Euro) – and that the price could even be as low as GBP 375 (552 Euros).
If the pricing is correct, the Xbox 360 package would fall in for less cash than the PS3, which is experiencing all kinds of troubles as of late.
With Sony’s recent woes and the admission by Ken Kutaragi that the electronics giant is failing in the hardware department, the HD-DVD drive might just give Microsoft the edge over the PS3 when it’s released. That console is still on track for a Nov. 17 release in the U.S., but delays in Europe are giving Sony a black eye.
