Doom 3An official guide to the hardware required to play the hugely anticipated Doom 3 has been released on hardocp.com:

id Software's DOOM 3 is poised to be one of the most played titles in the history of 3D gaming. Anticipation has grown to monumental levels as hundreds of thousands of people worldwide wait to experience the phenomenon called DOOM 3. Along with the anticipation, many are experiencing apprehension over the level of gameplay they expect from their current hardware. Still others, using this occasion to mull over an upgrade, have been waiting to discover which of their many hardware choices will provide them with the best DOOM 3 experience.

At the moment, DOOM 3 will be the closest many of us will ever come to playing the leading man in a big Hollywood movie production. While there will continue to be many more action games in the near future, many of which will provide an enhanced level of realism, DOOM 3 will be the first and likely one of the best you will see. We've played it and we're here to tell you that even if computer gaming is not "your thing," you will want to play DOOM 3, and we have a feeling many people will see it that way. The interactive entertainment experience of DOOM 3 is going to be far reaching and will certainly break the bounds in appealing to those people outside what is considered the average gamer. With the prospect of so many new people being brought into gaming by DOOM 3, there will likely be a lot of questions regarding the computer hardware needed to support it.

ilovebees.com

In the theatrical trailer for Halo 2 for the XBox, a website address flashes briefly near the end.
The site, ilovebees.com, is supposedly the site of a bee keeper about her pet bees, but it's been 'hacked' and filled with disturbing messages that don't appear to make any sense.
The owner of the site has set up a blog here where she posts about what happened.

Speculation is rampant about how this mystery ties into the plot of Halo 2, and a wiki has even been set up to try solve it.

Steam - 9.7.04

Steam is Valve's broadband software designed to allow users of their games a way of playing those games with an entirely new experience. For example it has its own instant messsaging program so you can chat with friends, even while in a game. It also includes an auto-update feature so you're game is kept up-to-date with all patches and any other releases for the game. Valve also gives customers the option to receive new games via the steam network. You would purchase the game with your credit card, download it through Steam and punch in your serial number provided. This should bring down prices as it signifigantly lowers the cost of production.

It has been a very shakey start for Steam (to say the very least) with countless users complaing that they can't even play the game since it's release due to bugs in the program. But with a lot of beta testing under the bridge, it is looking a little more promising for their loyal fans. And with Half Life 2 just around the corner (here's hoping) it may just be a good year for Steam, and for everyone else!

Half Life 2 interview with Gabe Newell

With a Half Life 2 date still yet to be announced, everyone is looking for answers and who better to ask than Gabe Newell. In a recent interview with driverheaven.net Mr Newell discusses hl2's history, how development is going and his expectations for the games future.

We usually don't think in terms of success, more in terms of living up to the community's expectations. We certainly have been really worried about living up to expectations and paying everyone back for the support they've shown us over the years.
