CS Source Beta is the testing version of the new Counterstrike on the half life 2 engine.
Counterstrike on the half life engine is still being played today, and is the most popular mod in the world.

Most people i think are not waiting for half life 2 they are waiting for the mods to come out!

To play CS Source Beta you have to a CD-key of CS CZ or a ati token that came with your graphics card for the free game of half life 2. You cannot use someone elses CS CZ. It has to be registered to your account.

You are also able to play it by visiting cyber cafes.

Right as this is beta version there is no real specs. But the ones given for half life 2 should apply exactly for CS Source Beta.

You are only able to play one level. de_dust. Unless you download others.

Smoke really kool effects. It works like a treat with the noise and blurred vision. It has taken about 10 seconds for my vison this good from a totally white screen.

Great smoke effects giving you great cover. Very dark and smokey strangely enough.

BOMB
Only Terrorist get this

Now you see them type a code. They use the correct fingers, and correct buttons for each code.

NIGHTVISION

Physics and environment

When BOMB explodes it gives off a great affect but also things get caught on fire.

Also there is a few of these around and you are able to get in some of them. Looks great. Im liking the thought of custom maps.

WOW an awesome floor with great refelections which i have seen in a few Half Life 2 videos.

You are also able to interact and come across many things that are offered by the physics engine. Some general objects. Great fun to play with.

Also the bodies die in many great way. It impresses me so much. Looks great when blood is spilling everywhere and the body naturally sits well.

As you can see here he has nades on his waist. You now can see them. Also when he dies and you walk ove rhis body you can pick up the nade.

As you can see you can make some quite kool decals into every bit of the environment looks great.

Also knives now make great decals. But only the first slash does. The 2nd one the more powerful one doesnt make a dent. A bug?

Some great dust effects can also been seen in source. We have seen the great water effects, in the videos. This is another great effect.

WOW a tyre. You can shoot it down the hill YAY! I think that was there on purpose.

BUGS & PROBLEMS I HAVE FOUND!

i have found a few bugs in this beta testing.

MAC-10 sometimes glows purple
If you hold tab down at start of game too choose team the tab menu wll stay up
Wrong names have been giving for team wounding
Not able to view score
Muzzle flashes
Video test, if aa used then somethings glow purple

This may not be for all but this has happened to me.

Im really looking forward to this mod being completed and day of defeat. Its become a great teaser. So many kool effects, graphics. Got everything for me :)

I was really suprised the amount of people able to lay on one server. i saw a 64 man server. Quite incredible so some big maps to come then. Also by the sounds of it, for people who host servers half life 2 engine is more efficient than the first.

This game is cpu based. Dont worry about buying incredible machines to run this. No need for top cards either as aa doesnt make much of a difference. On my 9800 pro i got a low of 20fps and a high of 80fps. With the settings listed above.

This CS Source Beta test grabbed me and made me stay there for a long time to admire what's going to come of the next level of gaming. The best physics system you will see. This will stay as the top one for a few years and will still be admired in a few years to come too.

Well guys it been fun. Hope you get the chance to test this!
