Not exactly a tool but a Gmail Hacking Utility exists

It's an interesting article, and Google should definitely make Gmail less susceptible to brute force attacks like that Gmail Hacks program, but the undertone of the article is false I think.

It hints at a backlash against Google in general because of criticism of Gmail, but I think the main privacy concerns have been addressed with Google's own pages and they still have a lot of goodwill from most people.

I've written a X-platform extension for Firefox.
Basically it will intercept all mailto: links and open them in a gmail compose window instead of your system's default mail viewer. It was originally called GMailCompose but now it's WebMailCompose as you can make it work in other webmail services as well.

http://gmail-notify.sourceforge.net/ is really worth a look for notifying you of new mail, and it works in Linux. Basically a clone of the one released by Google.

Look up "Gallina" it's a gmail based blogging system. I was running it for a while but was hoping new releases would evolve from this....none have but the Gallina (i believe its .2 is pretty nice)
