The SEO Challenge from the SearchGuild.com forums, where contestants try to game Google to get their website to the top of the SERP's for the term 'nigritude ultramarine' was won by forums.merkey.net.

They won the 'Player Prize' for having the number one placement a month after the competition started.
Another 'Stayer Prize' is still up for grabs for the number one site after two months.

The test for Google would be to have the home page of the contest appear as number one as it is the authority page on the term, but this contest shows how special techniques can push any page to the top for a given term, the contest may also be harmful to Google, because it takes a real word (ultramarine) and obscures useful sources for that word.
