 Two New Lycos Search Tools
Lycos People and Discussion SearchVia ResourceShelf.com, via searchenginewatch.com

Lycos today rolled out two new search tools, People Search and Discussion Search (BETA).

People Search allows you to search the Lycos-owned WhoWhere White Pages, while more detailed info is also available like background check, professional profile info and alumni email info.
These are provided by partner sites of Lycos, Reunion.com Intelius.com and Eliyon.com.

People Search (United States only) seems to work well, but other sites already offer similar features.

Whereas the Discussion Search is a tool I'm surprised hasn't been offered elsewhere yet.

The Discussion Search covers the major discussion forums on the Web, including Yahoo Groups and MSN Groups, though not the full Usenet index at Google Groups (faqs.org, which indexes F.A.Q. posts on Usenet is included).
Smaller message boards seem to be indexed well also, and from my own test searches it seems to be very accurate in only offering up forums and not regular web pages.

In the F.A.Q., Lycos say the Discussion search won't cover blogs, though some blogs with forum-like features will be included.
From looking at the results myself, this doesn't seem to include comment discussions on blogs.

Lycos was recently bought up by South Korean portal company Daum.
