It looks like AMD is seeing the GTX 550 Ti as a threat and wish to compete directly with Nvidia’s mid-range graphics card. According to Nordic Hardware the company is readying a new mid-range GPU based on AMD’s 40 nm Barts GPU, slated for an April 5th release.
The HD 6790 will consist of a memory interface of 256-bit wide GDDR5 VRAM, a core speed of 840 MHz, and 1050 MHz RAM speed. The card will have a low-power draw of 150W derived from 2 6-pin power connectors.
